Scottish Ski Club Lochaber Section

Lochaber Ski Club was formed before Nevis Range was built and played its part in the establishment of skiing on Aonach Mor. In 1991 the local ski club joined forces with the main Scottish Ski Club and the Club Hut was built using space underneath the Top Gondola Station at Nevis Range. Sited below the Top Gondola Station with panoramic views, the Alpine style hut provides a warm and comfortable place you can relax in over lunch or at the end of a good day on the hill. There is a kitchen where you can make yourself a warming drink or snack, or partake of soup and bacon rolls when available (peak periods). It’s a great place to catch up with everyone and chat. Impromptu social events are always popular; rounding off the day with a glass of mulled wine is always enjoyable.

Scottish Ski Club members can claim discounts off Season Tickets and Day Tickets. These discounts apply not just to Nevis Range; the other Scottish ski resorts offer similar discounts. Some outdoor shops in Fort William will give discounts to Lochaber residents who are members of the Scottish Ski Club. Other benefits include Insurance, Club Journal and Newsletter, Race Training, social events and group ski holidays.

Each season the club runs a series of great value training sessions. These cater for groups of all levels of ability, from beginners to advance skiers and, more recently, snowboarders. Ranging in age from 7 years to senior citizens. The aim is to improve general skiing in all conditions and all types of snow with the emphasis on fun and safety. Apart from learning or improving skills, these sessions have proved to be excellent social events

New membership category - Adult Social Membership

The Scottish Ski Club has recognised a need for a membership category designed specifically for the non skiing/snowboarding parents and guardians of children participating in Junior Training. As children under 13 using the club hut need to be accommpanied and everyone using club facilities are required to be members, this new membership category bridges the gap for those of you who do not ski etc but wish to accompany children and enjoy the social benefits offered by the Club. The benefits include Access to Members only Club hut, Social events and the Ski sale. Exclusions are insurance, the Club Journal, Newsletters, Discounted tickets and Retail discounts.
